Cardi B kicked off her Little Miss Drama tour last night in Palm Desert, just three days after she was at the Benito Bowl, seen hanging out in La Casita during Bad Bunny’s performance. Since then, though, there’s been all kinds of speculation about the status of her relationship with Stefon Diggs. Neither one has officially confirmed that they’ve broken up but the signs are there.
As Maria noted in Celebrity Social Media earlier this week, it’s not like Cardi hasn’t been candid about her business through the years. She can always be relied on to put her personal life on blast on social media. But the fact that Cardi hasn’t addressed her relationship situation doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to, or has something to hide, it may just be that she has other priorities. And if that’s the reason, I rate it.
Let the tour be more important right now than whatever mess is happening behind the scenes. The work should not suffer or take a backseat to the romance. She built her career, the career won’t cheat on her, won’t undermine her, the work is entirely hers, and she’s already been through it once with a high-profile relationship that took up entirely too much of her energy.
Cardi, then, is clearly focused on concerts, delivering a 37-song set last night, with the third act dedicated entirely to Latin culture, as her dancers flanked her at one point while holding up the flags of Latin American countries, like we saw at the end of the Benito Bowl. And this isn’t just imitation – Cardi’s latest album, Am I The Drama?, leans heavily into Cardi’s Latin heritage, not to mention one of her biggest hits, “I Like It” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin was specifically added to the Invasion of Privacy album because Cardi wanted to include Latin music on her debut album.
But the tour isn’t her only business. Hours before she took the stage last night, Cardi made an announcement about her latest project – a haircare line that she’s been working on for three years, with receipts about the thought she’s put into it, tracking back to her own social media posts to prove that this did not just happen overnight.
