But the Clooneys are not the only celebrities on the move. Chris Hemsworth is in New York, doing press for Crime 101. There are no major movies opening this weekend because of the Super Bowl, traditionally a depressed box office weekend, but that just means that next weekend is overcrowded and Crime 101 is opening against Wuthering Heights and the Sam Rockwell apocalyptic action-comedy Good Luck Don’t Die Have Fun (I appreciate what they’re trying to do but that title is TOO MUCH).

Hemsworth has been talking about his genetic predisposition for Alzheimer’s, and the worries it brings regarding his career and family. Alzheimer’s and dementia are so hard, I tested negative for the gene last year and cried when I got my result, it’s so stressful to think about regardless of outcome. I’ve seen multiple close family members go through it, and I have another fading right now, I hate this disease with a palpable fury. Alzheimer’s is a thief of joy, what little praying I do revolves around finding a cure for Alzheimer’s. I sincerely appreciate Chris Hemsworth talking about his journey, hopefully it makes someone else feel less alone in a very isolating experience.

Meanwhile over in Los Angeles, Keke Palmer was at the premiere of The Burbs, a series remake of the 1989 film starring Tom Hanks (it’s way darker than you remember!). Keke co-stars in the series, which is coming to Peacock, with professionally annoying British person Jack Whitehall. I like Keke’s outfit, but she does look embarrassed to be at her own premiere.

I would also be embarrassed standing next to Jack Whitehall.

I’m not denying the trends—people are drinking less, going out less, etc—I’m just saying, getting older involves going to bed earlier. There’s good stuff happening right now—the Olympics—and a lot of bad stuff happening—everything else—but there is also a sled dog chomping on a camera in Greenland (which is an autonomous territory of Denmark). AP correspondent Emma Burrows and her cameraperson, Zhenya, had a $700 camera nabbed by the four-legged thief, who was then a very good boy going chomp chomp on the camera. Honestly, this is a good advertisement for that camera, because that dog fully chewed on it and it survived! (Celebitchy)

In honor of Black History Month, film critic Robert Daniels, one of the best in the game, made a list of 10 films from across a century of cinema to highlight Black filmmakers, stories, and the progression of Black expression in cinema. If Robert is recommending it, it’s always worth watching, but this is also a great way to self-study Black cinema from a century of filmmaking. (New York Times)
