Kate Moss was at the Burberry show last night in London – a classic British fashion house and one of the most famous British models of all time. Burberry + Kate will always be on trend, and Kate herself will likely always be in style, or never out of style.
Especially not now, given how the 90s continue to dominate. Yesterday I posted about how slip dresses are on all the racks right now, namechecking Kate Moss in the post as one of the OG 90s girls who made slip dresses her signature, and a few hours later, she arrived at Burberry in… of course… a slip dress under a trench.
Here’s a throwback shot of Kate in one of her most iconic slip dresses – the sheer slipdress she wore at the Elite Models party in 1993.
That shot was taken a year after her first Calvin Klein campaign, the one with Marky Mark, which is back in the zeitgeist, along with slip dresses, because of Ryan Murphy’s Love Story: John F Kennedy Jr and Carolyn Bessette. Kate comes up in the very first episode and again throughout the series’ four episodes so far, because of her connection to Carolyn who, of course, was working for and at Calvin Klein when she met John. You will note, Sarah Pidgeon who plays Carolyn wears a lot of slip dresses on the show. So the slip dress will for sure be extending its run through the spring and summer of 2026, if you need recommendations, I made several in my post yesterday.
As for Kate, again, not that she’s ever not famous, but the show might lead to yet another spike in interest from Gens Z and Alpha who’ve made it a habit of discovering what was already there and claiming it as their own. I mean, they can try, but Kate, John, and Carolyn were and will always be Gen X, for better or worse. And on that note, if you haven’t already, Doreen St Félix’s piece on how the series is a “forgettable elegy for Gen X” is, as usual, outstanding.
